GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Thursday night Mr. Edward Corrigan"s horses, destined for a campaign in England, were shipped from Hawthorne for New York. There they will be embarked on the good steamer Minneapolis, which is to depart May 26. Mr. Corrigan will take passage on the same vessel. The horses that will invade the tight little island are Geyser, Golden Rule, M. F. Tarpey, Dr. Sheppard. Chimura, Sardonic, St. Casimir, Oremus. Sam Tate, Colonel Bartlett, Father York, Tarsney, Adolph Spreckels and one other. Eastern turfmen have conducted important racing operations in England from time to time, but never before has a western owner of prominence taken a strong stable over. It i- quite certain that Mr. Corsjgan"s venture will be regarded with interest in the west and the fortunes of his racers will be closely followed. In his opinion his horses can be made ready by the time of the Newmarket July meeting and will probably make their first essays at that important meeting.
