RICH PROGRAMS ANNOUNCED FOR THE SPRING MEETINGS AT DOUGLAS PARK AND LATONIA Cincinnati, O., February 14. The conditions of nine stakes to be run during the coming spring meeting of the Latonla Jockey Club were announced today by General Manager John Ilachmeister. The stake offerings for this season are identical with those of last year. It will be remembered that at about this time last year Manager Ilachmeister announced stake events for Douglas Park and La-tonia which elicited applause from turfgoers and horsemen throughout America. This season Mr. Ifiictnueister lias duplicated his offering of last year, and nine stakes in all will be opened for the horsemen to run for at Latonia. A total of 2,500 iu added money will thus be distributed in stakes during Ihe twenty-four days of racing that it is expected will take place at Latonia. The dates for the meeting, together with those for other Kentucky tracks, will be announced before long. All of the old favorites in the way of stake events rim at this course in the last decade will again scheduled for decision. The Latonla Derby, of course, will be the leader, and with 1914.sh,000 in added money it surely should attract the cream of the three-year-old division. The Cincinnati Trophy is second iu the list, with ,000 in added money, and the Independence Handicap follows with ,500 added. All the others carry an added money value of ,000, with the exception of the .Merchants and tho Valuation Stakes, which are selling events, and to them SI. ".00 will be added. The list of the nine Latonia Stakes follows: Inaugural Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, one mile and a sixteenth, ,000 added. Latonia Derbv. for three-year olds, one mile and a half. $;,:00 added. Clipsetta Stakes, for two-year-old fillies, live-eighths of a mile, 2,000 added. Merchants Selling Stakes, for three-year-olds ami over, one mile, ,500 added. Harold Stakes, for two-year-old colts and geldings, five-eighths of a mile, ,000 added. Quickstep Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, three-quarters of a mile, ,000 added. Valuation Stakes, selling, for two-vear-olds, live and a half furlongs, ,500 added. Independence Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, one mile and three-sixteenths, ,500 added. Cincinnati Trophy, for two-year-olds, three-quarters of a mile, ,000 added. Mr. Ilaclnneister also announced the Stake event:; for the Douglas Park track at Louisville. The Kentucky Handicap, carrying a value of 0,000 added, again heads the list, and the other stakes are the same as last year. This is the second running of the Kentucky Handicap, which was won by Kudolfo last year. Next in point of value to the Kentucky Handicap will be the Spring Trial Stakes, for two-year-olds, ,500 added. The list of the Douglas Park stakes will lie made up as follows: Kentucky Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, one mile and a quarter. 0,000 added. Memorial Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, three-quarters of a mile, ,000 added. Spring Trial Stakes, for two-year-olds, five-eighths of a mile, ,500 added. Speculation Stakes, selling, for three-year-olds and over, one mile and a sixteenth, ,500 added. Entries to the stake events at Latonia and Douglas Park will close Saturday, March 7.
