AIR MAIL HOME IN FRONT Takes Main Race at Beulah Park John Hoshor Registers Third ThirdConsecutive Consecutive Victory COLUMBUS Ohio May 13 Mrs N B Davis Air Mail accounted for the fifth race which served as the principal attrac ¬ tion at Beulah Park this afternoon The winner under good riding by jockey L Sau ¬ cier slowly improved her position oh the outside in the first half mile then challeng ¬ ing Happy Hobo the early leader in the stretch overhauled the latter and drew clear to a handy victory in the final sixteenth Happy Hobo set the pace to the stretch but was no match for the winner and held Log Pire safe for second place in the run home The latter raced in close quarters all the way wayG G W Fritz John Hoshor registered his third success of the meeting scoring in a driving finish from Silent Lillian and Mad denstown in the sixth Silent Lillian showed keen early speed and drew out into a com ¬ manding lead in the first half mile but was tiring and bearing out in the stretch allowing John Hoshor to come up on the inside in the last sixteenth mile to outstay her near the end in a hard drive driveNestle Nestle scored her second success of the meeting in the opening race getting up in the last few yards to outstay Golden Dust A spill came with the running of this race when as the field was rounding the far turn Weathervane moving up on the outside of Golden Dust the early leader stumbled and fell Jockey G Young who had the mount on Weathervane escaped injury injuryHerbert Herbert made a show of his opponents in the second race when after going the first quarter mile the winner drew away from the others with ease and won by a decisive mar ¬ gin well in hand Barthelmess a first time starter showed a good effort and was best of the others Sinvona shook off Towtons Choice in the final eighth and took the show money finishing fast fastA A big surprise came with the running of the fourth race when Bill Ainsworth a threeyearold maiden registered a handy victory over his opponents The largest price of the meeting was recorded when the winner paid 11600 for a 2 certificate Merry Mars outstayed Bill Shaffer for sec ¬ ond place in the stretch test testIn In the closing race Hopeful scored a de ¬ cisive Aictory and never left the result in doubt after the first half mile My Lorraine was as easily best of the others rapidly overtaking Tea Cosy and Uncle Velo tho early leaders in the last quarter mile Coach Whip gained third place by a wide margin
