AUDLEY FARM STABLE Registers Double Triumph at Fairmount Park Friday Cherokee Maid and Alice McLuke McLukeAre Are Successful Colorbearers Novelty Donkey Race COLLINSVIKLE 111 June 3 The Audey Farm Stable annexed a double during the afternoon when its Cherokee Maid and Alice McLuke were home in advance of their res ¬ pective competitors in the first and sixth sixthraces races Alice McLuke carried off what was rograrded as the feature race and by her victory furnished a surprise for Indianapolis and Ennui were held in high favor and ex ¬ pected to furnish all the contention Indian ¬ apolis was a dismal failure for the entire way showing a particularly dull perform ¬ ance It was her first start in consider ¬ able time but she has been working in good style and had the confidence of a supposedly smart contingent Ennuis poor perform ¬ ance was in the main due to the inexperi ¬ ence of W Curran her rider riderAlice Alice McLuke began well and rushing into a long lead right at the outset held sway to beat home Candy Star carrying H T Archibalds colors Ennui landed in third place Continued threatening weather gave way to clear skies late in the afternoon and under constant efforts of a big track force the track continued to improve and if no more rain falls before post time tomorrow there is fine prospect of the racing strip being in excellent condition for the second Fairmount Derby running 1 A good attendance was on hand today to view the sport in spite of the prospect of encountering another storm ADDITIONAL FEATUIiE FEATUIiEAn An added feature of the afternoons racing was a quartermile contest between six white Oriental Donkeys ridden by jockeys They amused the crowd by their efforts and re ¬ minded one at a distance of jack rabbits running Music Master ridden by L Aron was home first after leading all the way Snow Ball and Jack Rabbit followed and the others were strung out As a spectacle it amused the crowd The quartermile was negotiated in 5C seconds The winner was a slight favorite favoriteAlex Alex Woodliffe was another favorite that succeeded His victory came in the seventh race in which lie beat Chesterbrook with Kindred in third place Alex Woodliffe from a fast beginning was kept under re ¬ straint closely in the wake of Macedonian and he readily disposed of the latter when urged hard and had enough left to outstay Chesterbrook while Kindred in the closing strides overhauled Macedonian MacedonianOne One of the best finishes during the present meeting resulted with the running of the third race when Elevate Owena and Avia ¬ tor finished but short distances apart after a hard drive in the stretch Owena was probably unlucky to lose and it was in the main Legeres overconfidence near the end that enabled Elevate to get up in the last few strides to nose out Owena OwenaIIAIIIIY IIAIIIIY 11 VICTOR VICTORThe The second race found Harry B victor after being far back in the early stages The Penthorne representative had raced into a lead of nearly a dozen lengths at one stage and seemed to have the race at his mercy when reaching the stretch but he tired badly and Harry B coming steadily won drawing away from Cliff with Critical Moment up in the last stride to down Mont rose for the shorter portion of the purse purseRajah Rajah one of the wellbacked ones was virtually left at the post The Audley Farm Stables Cherokee Maid upset calculations in the inaugural race when she finished in advance of E B Mc ¬ Leans Elizabeth with Shasta Flapper in third place The latter showed good early earlyspeed speed but Elizabeth began moving up fast fastin in the stretch and after dlisplacing Shasta Flapper seemed to have the race won until Cherokee Maid came with her rush to take the purse purseHal Hal Price Headleys Chief Sabattus was victor in the final race and he incidentally proved the longest priced winner of the aft ¬ ernoon He was hustled into the lead soon after the start and fought it out gamely when challenged strongly in the stretch by Grass Maid beating her home in a spectac ¬ ular finish Arragosa under a poor ride raced wide and gave way completely in the stretch but was good enough to land in third place placeJockey Jockey W Anderson was severely shaken up when thrown from a twoyearold this morning and was prevented from accepting acceptingany any mounts today todayJ J E Everman arrived with eight horses horsesvjind vjind Oscar Chanty brought Love Child
