ASCOT, England, June 21— The Ascot Gold Cup, one of Englands greatest turf classics and the feature of the all-stake program for the third day of the meeting here, was won today by Rcid Walkers Invershin, the six-year-old bay horse by Invincible — Ajantia. He defeated E. De Stalarys Finglas, the French-bred, with Marshall Fields great filly Cinq a Sept third, beaten three lengths for second place. The winner was held at 100 to 8. Finglas was the even money favoiite and the filly was quoted at 25 to 1. Leaden skies and rainstorms conspired to mar the occasion, but the sport was good and the crowd large. Royalty again favored the meeting with its presence and the nobility and fashionables were out in full force despite the weather. The owner of the Gold Cup winner scored a IHible, for in the Rous Memorial Stakes, a fixture for three-year-olds and upward, ■ ! ■ i o- the Hunt Cup course of seven-eighths, 166 yards, Delius, another son of i vre.ole. but Horn Delos, redeemed himself for his defeat as the favorite in the Royal Hunt Cup yesterday. Delius started as the 7 to 4 choice in the Rous Memorial and he won easily by three lengths from Sol Joels Janus. John Bells Only Way was third. Janus was. 9 to 2 in the wagering and Only Way was quoted at 100 to 8. ASCOT, England, June 21. — The rivalry between King Georges Scuttle, winner of the One Thousand Guineas, and Lord Derbys Toboggan, which won the Epsom Oaks, was resumed in the Coronation Stakes, at one mile, for three-year-old fillies, here Wednesday. It was their third meeting and it resulted in another defeat for the bearer of the royal purple, gold, scarlet and black. In the One Thousand Guineas, Scuttle won from Lord Dewars Jurisdiction by a length, while Toboggan was third, six lengths back. In the Epsom Oaks, Toboggan administered a six lengths beating to Scuttle, Jurisdiction also starting and finishing unplaced. In the Coronation Stakes, J. B. Leighs Romany Queen split Toboggan and Scuttle in a blanket finish. Toboggan won by half a length, while Romany Queen beat Scuttle for second place by three-quarters of a length. Lord Derbys filly was the favorite at 11 to 10. The kings filly was 4 to 1. Romany Queen was held at 10 to 1. Toboggan and Scuttle carried 129 pounds each, three more than their Epsom Oaks and One Thousand Guineas weights. Romany Queen carried 115 pounds.
