i HOLLENDEN HOTEL PURSE Tuesdays Feature at Bainbridge Park Falls to Lightly Regarded Exceed — Principio Wins. GEAUGA LAKE, Ohio, July 24.— Exceed, lightly regarded in the speculation, captured the Hollenden Hotel Purse, the feature and best offering at Bainbridge Park this afternoon. Flying Ambassador raced to second place, while Astute took down the minor award. The race was run first with Flying Ambassador, Exceed and Athens showing the way in this order. Then Astute moved up nearing the turn for home. In the final drive Exceed got up- to beat Flying Ambassador by a half length, with Astute finishing a bang-up third on the outside of the leaders. Athens weakened nearing the end and the remaining starters were never serious factors. The racing was contested over a fast track, but the weather was intensely hot and sultry. A fairly large crowd was on hand. Mrs. E. E. Watsons Principio made his seasons debut in the opening race, and was | returned the winner in a hard drive by the closest of margins. Taking the lead after going half the distance, he was never headed thereafter, but barely lasted to win. Col. Cloister made a game bid in the stretch and beat the others, and would have won in another stride. Mental Storm barely saved third from The Choctaw. It was a rousing finish. Taking command at once, Chancabit retained a safe lead over eleven other juveniles at all stages of the second race. It was her second appearance under colors and marked the Miller fillys initial success. All Bays came from behind to beat the others heme with considerable to spare. After racing prominently from the start, Suzanne Guetel saved the minor award in a drive from the fast finishing Viva Pete. Tested showed early speed but tired badly.
