TRIPLE FOR A G VANDERBILT Droop Bright Mark and Dusky Prince Score for Young Turfman Matey Registers Initial Win of Season in inSixth Sixth Event and Qualifies for Preakness PreaknessStakes Stakes Cito Takes Jumping Race PIMLICO Md May 7 Walter M Jef fords Matey winner of the Pimlico Futurity last fall through the disqualification of War ¬ ren Wrights Privileged qualified hand ¬ somely for his engagement in the Preak ¬ ness Stakes here next Saturday when he was a driving winner over Scotch Bun in the sixth event an allowance affair at a mile and a sixteenth With Harry Richards in the saddle the Man o War colt gained a head verdict over the Vanderbilt starter with Master Lad in third place placeThe The silks of A G Vanderbilt were prom ¬ inent this afternoon when his third victory during the matinee was registered with the running of the Hobkirks Hill Purse a claim ¬ ing event for better class platers which was fourth on the card Coming from far back in the early running after being away very slowly Dusky Prince drove to a nose vic ¬ tory over J J Meehans Patsey Begone at the end of the six furlongs test One and onehalf lengths away Biscayne Blue was third for Bomar Stable Little Argo was fourth and Aroused completed the field of five The cerise and white silks had pre ¬ viously been successful in the first race won by Droop and in the third race when Bright Mark was first home Jockey Sammy Renick rode Droop and Dusky Prince and Lloyd Knapp was astride Bright Mark MarkAroused Aroused Patsey Begone and Biscayne Blue raced heads apart as they led the other two down the back stretch Dusky Prince broke tardily but soon passed Little Argo He was still considerably behind the leaders as the turn was reached where Patsey Begone succeeded in shaking off Aroused to take a short lead while Biscayne Blue was not far away Aroused tired and wilted into the dis ¬ card Dusky Prince flashed a keen burst of speed to draw closer to the leaders while Patsey Begone continued to hold sway over Biscayne Blue Finishing stoutly through the stretch Dusky Prince disposed of Bis ¬ cayne Blue and moved on even terms with Patsey Begone The pair staged a bitter duel to the finish line with the camera deciding in favor of the Vanderbilt representative
