MORT SHAW HERE SUNDAY Will Inspect Wagering Equipment at atWashington Washington Park Jockeys JockeysBoard Board Among Improvements Mort Shaw mutuel manager for Washing ¬ ton Park will arrive in Chicago Sunday for an inspection of the wagering equipment at the south side track where Chicagos American Derby meeting opens May 24 24The The big tote board at Homewood and the ticket machines represent the most mod ¬ ern machinery along this line in the Middle West Engineers have been putting it into shape for several weeks and Shaw will put it through another test tomorrow tomorrowPatrons Patrons of Washington Park will be greeted by an addition to the tote board in the infield this meeting It is a jockeys board which will show all overweights changes in riders and the condition of the track for each race This latter board is only one of a number of improvements which will make for more convenience for the public It is attached to the end of the big tote board and is designated to harmonize with it During the running of a race it swings back out of sight sightPresident President Walter L Gregory announced today that the track was in readiness and that next week would be a busy one The advance guard of the various leading sta ¬ bles is expected to arrive
