DYER PILOTS THREE WINNERS Burr Hickman Baldy and Mr Joe His Successful Mounts Butsey Hernandez Earns Two Purses and andLoses Loses Plater Atit After Breaking BreakingDown Down in the Fifth Race AURORA 111 May 7 Some superb and spectacular horsemanship by the veteran Joe Dyer monopolized the spotlight at the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs track this afternoon as the oldtimer booted home a trio of win ¬ ners and on two occasions was obliged to put up powerful finishes in order to accomplish the triumphs triumphsAfter After having guided Burr Hickman and Baldy to victory in the first two races on the card Dyer came back in the fifth race to chalk up a neck decision with J R Brid wells Mr Joe over Bombastic while Pen mar from the stable of W W Gauthier was only a head farther back in third position positionIn In bringing Baldy and Mr Joe down in front the veteran reinsman had to resort to all the cunning and handriding ability he possessed On both occasions it appeared as if his mounts would be overhauled within the last sixteenth but continuing to ride them to the limit brought success successFINE FINE RIDE ON MR JOE JOEDyers Dyers most sensational performance of the afternoon came astride Mr Joe which he rated perfectly in front of the opposition in the mile and seventy yards test Shaking off early challengers Mr Joe opened up a lead of two lengths after a half mile was traversed but Dyer retained his snug hold of the bay gelding to reserve him for those which would attempt to overtake him in the stretch run runA A Chicagoowned performer captured the I main portion of the purse in the mile and seventy yards which constituted the fourth race Bay Memor trounced five others In easy fashion and was three lengths in front of his closest competitor at the conclusion of the battle while Two Brooms overtook Probationer to account for the place portion of the purse purseThe The cerise silks of Norman Hernandez were carried to their first victory of the current season in the third event of the day when Proof showed the way from start to finish of the dash to defeat Sweep Boy by two lengths Goldspun finished in third place placeBEDIGHT BEDIGHT IMPRESSIVELY IMPRESSIVELYMaking Making his first appearance of the season Norman Butsey Hernandez Bedight scored an impressive victory in the Elgin Claiming Purse registering by a length and a half in handy fashion over Denbigh while Miss Webb drew up in third position It was the second score of the day for the New Orleans turfman who saddled Proof earlier in the day dayUnder Under the feathery impost of ninetyeight pounds which was made up of apprentice Paul Ryan Bedight went into the lead when the field was dispatched arid showed the way for the entire six furlongs though it appeared as if Denbigh would overhaul the son of Polymelian midway of the home stretch stretchDenbigh Denbigh was within a head of the pace ¬ maker which has a reputation of not being any too well fortified with courage but Bedight clung on grimly and Denbigh was the one to give way in the duel duelThough Though Butsey Hernandez collected two purses during the afternoon he lost a horse as the plater Atit which broke down during the stretch run of the fifth race was taken into the infield and destroyed when hig right foreleg was damaged beyond repair
