FINAL WORKS OF CONTESTANTS Pompoon War Admiral and Bernard BernardF F Sent Short Distances Mars MarsEntry Entry Goes ThreeQuarters LOUISVILLE Ky May 7 Many of the Kentucky Derby candidates were sent through short workouts this morning for their final tightening efforts for tomorrow afternoons race The track was in good condition and improving steadily and a ma ¬ jority of the Derby horses waited until the middle of the training period before step ¬ ping through their paces pacesPompoon Pompoon revealed the most speed when he breezed four furlongs in 48 Starting at the fivesixteenths post the son of Pompey and Oonagh went kindly as he stepped the first quarter in 23 and the three furlongs in 35 35That That No Sir was ready for his engagement was indicated by his three furlongs try in 35 handily Charmed Circle started in front of Miss Mary Hirschs campaigner at the three furlongs post but before the work ¬ out was half over the son of Sortie went to the front frontReaping Reaping Reward and Military which will represent the Milky Way Farm vere brought out early by trainer Robert McGar vey and sent over an easy six furlongs be ¬ ing timed the half mile in 50 and the full distance in 117 They were under strong restraint all the way wayAmong Among the last on the track were Bernard F and Sir Damion The I J Collins geld ¬ ing was hard held in doing three furlongs in 39 while Marshall Fields colt was sent along under light urging to do the quarter in 2473 and threeeighths in 36 36George George Conway was content to let War Admiral breeze four furlongs in 50 and Dellor went the same distance in a second faster time Trainer Goode was well satis ¬ fied with the James W Parrish hope hopeGoing Going over the five furlongs distance were E R Bradleys Billionaire and the Fox catcher Farms Fairy Hill The former was timed in 102 and the Santa Anita Derby winner in 101 Both candidates worked in handy fashion
