Ike Junior Never Headed at Suffolk SuffolkRepulses Repulses Bids of Chuckalot And Octorora to Register His First Score of Year SUFFOLK DOWNS East Boston Mass May 10 Mrs E Trunnells Ike Junior dis ¬ played his customary early speed in the featured sixth race here today but to the surprise of the majority of those present the threeyearold son of Principal kept right on going to reach the end of the sixfurlong sprint a half length before Mrs Weston Adams Chuckalot Another half length away in third place came My harriet Stables Octorora the threequar ¬ ter mile spin being completed in 113 113Ike Ike Junior was winning his first race in four starts this season He had the serv ¬ ices of jockey Frank Solimena once again the veteran rider coming over from Lin ¬ coln Downs to be reunited with the colt on whom he won two races at Narragansett Park last year yearThe The day was warm for the 13020 spec ¬ tators for a change and the form players were not doing too badly as two of their choices succeeded in the first six races racesTakes Takes Early Lead LeadAs As anticipated Ike Junior was winging away from the gate opening up an ad ¬ vantage of a length and a half before going a quarter of a mile The field was well bunched behind the flying leader all the way down the backstretch with only Mrs Sam Orrs II S Bound and Mrs J P Sheehys Mad Town out of contention contentionJack Jack Gavegnanos Directoire was in closest chase for the first half mile J L McKnights Captain Boudour and Octorora racing under a blanket Solimena vas rating his mount nicely in front with almost the entire field fighting for posi ¬ tions all the way down the back side Rounding the turn for home it appeared that the pacemaker might be weakening as Octorora Directoire and Chuckalot started to close in inDirectoire Directoire was the first to try Ike Junior but the pacemaker found new speed and the challenge was quickly disposed of Octorora then took his best shot as the straightaway came into view but once again the challenge was turned back as Ike Junior held to his advantage Octorora finding his attempted task a bit too much The final attempt to overhaul the pace ¬ maker came from Chuckalot but like his predecessors he too fell short although Ike Junior was coming back a bit groggy from his pacemaking burden which earned 2400 for his proud owner
