Liteco Continues Her Winning Ways WaysRegisters Registers by Half Length Over Stepping Miss for Third Straight Success SuccessSUFFOLK SUFFOLK DOWNS East Boston Mass May 20 Liteco racing in the colors of Mr and Mrs W F Mannagh raced to her third straight triumph in the cofeatured fifth race here today earning a halflength verdict over Rumstick Lodge Stables Step ¬ ping Miss in the creditable time of 144 over a good race track Fantasy Farms Spiteful Sue finished just a nose back of Stepping Miss in a driving finish that had the result in doubt right to the wire wireThe The weather continued cold discourag ¬ ing attendance in the wide expanses of the oceanside track but nevertheless an aver ¬ age crowd of 9672 enjoyed the days sporfc under their tightlybuttoned topcoats Liteco started her current win streak at Lincoln Downs moved to the East Boston track to register last Saturday and added another generous purse to her owners cof ¬ fers by her smashing victory today todayIn In accomplishing her third straight triumph Liteco had to survive the onetwo punch that trainer Ray Metcalf had readied for the mile and 70 yards event Metcalf started Oran Lodge Stables Va liente and Stepping Miss employing the Fernandez brothers in the saddle Anthony on Valiente and Fernando on Stepping Miss MissValiente Valiente went out to make the pace for her stablemate in an attempt to kill off anything that attempted to go along with the faststepping Bull Dog filly However the pacemaker was unable to open up day ¬ light on her rivals Liteco holding fast to second place with J O Harts Miss Banned and Staging next in line A J Ryans Gay Date Stepping Miss and Spiteful Sue com ¬ pleted the march down the backstretch in the order named namedValiente Valiente Relinquishes Lead LeadBefore Before going a half mile apprentice Ray Smithers moved to the lead supplanting Valiente and taking over the burden of pacemaking herself Valiente continued well in second place and it wasnt until the home stretch that Stepping Miss moved in attempting to take over where Valiente was giving up But by this time Liteco was four in front with Stepping Miss charging fast through the final furlong to be joined by Spiteful Sue who was making her bid from far back backLiteco Liteco was tiring as the two challengers came at her but managed to save enough of the advantage she had built up to main ¬ tain a winning margin at the wire with the camera separating the two comeon horses horsesCircle Circle K Farms Misleader purchased privately from the Wheatley stable only recently made good for his new owner at the first asking when he trimmed six op ¬ ponents in the second of the cofeatures After five unsuccessful starts at Jamaica Misleader wasted no time in demonstrat ¬ ing his superiority over the mile and a sixteenth route quickly opening up a five length advantage in the run down the backstretch and preserving three and a half of those lengths to the wire wireThe The favored Black Knave racing in the interests of McCarthy Gavegnano lacked the customary early speed he had been exhibiting in sprint races coming off the pace to be second four lengths in ad ¬ vance of R B Carrolls Belrate
