Y., May 10. — Mrs. E. H. Ellison, Jr.s, Sun Bar-ram, who found a likely spot in the Wild-wood Purse, featured mile and one-sixteenth allowance event on this afternoons program, ran to his past performances in scoring by three and one-half lengths from T. P. Morgans Crown Me and Victory Stables Apachico. In his last outing here, the dark bay son Bahram had run fourth and was beaten but a length and a quarter in the Valley Forge Stakes to the hard-hitting Ferd, Whiffenpoof and Risk A Whirl, and it was the basis of that effort that he was backed to odds-on favoritism in the Wild-wood. When it came to the running, Sun Bahram, as usual, lacked early speed, while Crown Me and Golden Bull went out to duel for the lead. Crown Me raced Golden Bull into defeat after a half mile, and was sent into a short lead, but on the turn and entering the stretch, he was put to a drive the winner, who had worked his way up into the contention, first on the inside, then going to the outside to find free racing room. Although Crown Me held on stubbornly until an eighth out, he was unable to resist the winner, and while giving way near the wire, still had ample left hold the place safe. Jockey Angelo Vasil, who rode the winner, took no chances on the outcome, putting his mount to a drive at the far turn, made considerable use of the whip while subduing Crown Me in the stretch, and then, in the final sixteenth, even though had a safe margin, elected to urge his mount along to the wire. Sun Bahram s time for the mile and a t f 1 r c s £ "V s 1 I sixteenth was a creditable 1:44% over a track a wee bit slower than has prevailed for the last few days. The track was per- haps dulled from its usual speed a trifle by the overcast sky, which was in evidence for the greater part of the afternoon, plus the coolish air, an air which lacked the properties necessary to quickly dry out the track and give it the semblance of paste- board, or as near pasteboard as the velvety Garden State cushion can get. Sun Bahram paid .60 straight. It was the third start of the 1951 season for the Ellison horse, and his first score. He is not r eligible for any of the stakes remaining on the Garden State schedule, but his per- i formance today was noteworthy in a minor ■ manner and an indication that he has returned to the peak of form which enabled g him to earn more than 2,000 last year. £
