Pixie Pat Registers Easy Front Running Victory Under Snug Hold Last Sixteenth As He Leads Pallis Royal Home DETROIT, Mich.. June 22.— Pollard and Harkins Pixie Pat, alertly handled by young George Walker, scored an easy front -running graduation victory here today in the third race, which matched 10 juveniles at five furlongs. Taking command soon after the start, Pixie Pat skipped to the wire with a three and one-half length advantage over her nearest rival and she was under a snug hold during the last -sixteenth mile. Second honors went to Sharpe and Mullens Pallis Royal, who was a head in advance of Samuel Segrettos King Pigeon. Henry Forrests Go At It. coupled with the winner, was good enough to salvage fourth money in the juvenile dash after a rough trip. Pixie Pat, a chestnut daughter of Flushing II. and Jeanne Fetzko, sped the short route in l:021/5 and rewarded her backers with 1.60 pay-off. Heavy rains last night and again this morning left the local track muddy and horses with ability to handle the soft footing predominated during the drab afternoon. Although skies were heavily clouded, a crowd of approximately 7,500 turned out for the sport. F. Miners Lt. Bill, handled by Eddie Danhauer, drove to a two-length verdict in the six-furlong opener, defeating Mrs. Norman Hernandez fast-finishing Khams Hour, who was a nose before J. Mallias Danada Red, in the field of eight starters. Lt. Bill raced in the middle of the track the entire sprint distance but the better going out from the rail suited him perfectly although he was under pressure to achieve his victory. Lt. Bill was clocked in 1:165 and paid .00 straight. Spencer and Coons Donquest, ridden bv Jose Benitez, proved best of the ten ordinary platers meeting in the second, also at three-quarters mile. Donquest came from well back to beat Henry Johnstons Beau Koo a length while some four and one-half lengths away, Saginaw Stables Bother was along to save their honors. Donquest completed his trip in 1:15%, paid 3.80 in the straight pool and, coupled in the Daily Double with Lt. Bill, returned 23.80.
