by a substantial nose W Haggin Perrys Remand was another length away at the end of the seven furlongs while John Barry Ryans Buttevant finished a length and a half out of the money after being off slowly in a ragged start Hal Price Headleys Revolt the favorite fin ¬ ished fifth two and a half lengths off the board boardEight Eight of the 15 threeyearolds in the Swift chose this engagement in place of the Kentucky Derby but none of them could win it Remand coming closest Gigantic who had raced against firstclass older sprinters in his two Long Island races paid 5910 1900 and 930 across the final yards Remand moved up strongly in Gigantics wake and drew almost level with the ultimate winner as they straightened away for the run to the wire but hung in the final furlong Buttevant finished and Widener course pas passed by Picador Mackville and Bradley nearing the far turn then re ¬ gained comamnd Kaster who had been racing in fifth place on the outside moved up rapidly roundirg the far turn and took the lead curving for home while racing very vide Picador cut the corner as Count Cain suddenly tired while Royal Governor began to move up rapidly frpm the rear ranks saving ground all the way wayKaster Kaster continued steadily down the ex ¬ treme outside and had no great trouble holding Picador safe as that grass special ¬ ist bore in sharply after crossing the lower end of the Widener course in the stretch Royal Governor finished very fast to take third money from Count Cain while Jamie K ran over beaten horses at the end Mackville was in fourth place when he hit the beacon
