CRUSE Staff Correspondent RIVER DOWNS, California, Ohio, June 28.-The sweltering heat of last Saturday was replaced today by about the most ideal temperature of the meeting. The sun remained bright all day, yet there was a pleasant breeze about to keep the upward of 4,000 fans more comfortable than any day last week. Miss C. Vesters Cathys Girl and jockey J. The winner sped the six furlongs, in 1:13 and as third choice in the betting returned .60. The daily double returns continue to be big here at River Downs and again today a 01.20 return was posted. The pair proved a formidable unit and trekked the six furlongs in 1:12 to be a good two and one-half lengths the best of F. Kirkhams Melancholia and jockey Evan Anyon. South Dakota who still holds many a track record throughout Ohio. E. McNichols Better Buy and jockey D. Foley were a length the better of C. H, Youngs Porzo in the second race and were another pair without too much consideration. This c.ombination rewarded the str.aightibettorth i74.CLjati x ii v ni
