May 12. — Trainer John B. Theall traveled j from New York today with Joe W. Browns Dobey Doc and the public installed him favorite in the featured six-furlong Harris-1 burg Purse. The three-year-old Rico Monte OOtt fulfilled the expectations and easily ; drew out to a three-length tally under the cool handling of contract rider Ray Brous- [ sard, who also made the one-day trip from Belmont Park. Dobey Doc had been unable to win a race i in 10 other starts this year, and won only! once in six starts as a juvenile. But he ; went in his best stride today and was timed j over a fast strip in 1:11 Vs. He returned a straight mutuel of .40. W. Arnold Hangers Rico Romance was ; up in time to garner second money as the I field bunched behind the winner, circling wide into the stretch and outfinishing Bar-, clay Stables Prabeau by a head. The latter was the same margin before Joe Gaveg- nanos Henrys Reward, with the early pace-making Alapocas of J. A. Bayards Smt a half length back in fifth place. Alapocas Sets Early Pace Alapocas set the pace under a free rein to the head of the stretch where Dobey Doc, who had gradually placed himself ■ ready under Broussards competent handling, dashed between her and Henrys Re- i ward to take command. He was steadied thereafter and scored with reserve of speed. ; The weather was delightful for a change, and the attendance registered 18,209. Jockey Karl Korte completed a double with a triumph in the sixth aboard Castle Rock Farms Miss Shadow. The gray mare, who failed to win a single race last year, ran six furlongs in 1:11*5 to return 4.60. T. P. Morgans Athena finished a length behind and two lengths in front of John S. Kroeses Ardansgal. The favorite in this event. Duntreath : Farms Militant Miss, appeared to give Jockey Ken Church some trouble as she attempted to swerve while vying between j the leaders on the turn, then lugged in when set down for the drive and was , fourth, a head behind Ardansgal. Miss Shadow slipped through next to the rail on the final bend to quickly establish a clear lead, but she was tiring under the whip and Athena, who had to come around the first flight, was closing fast at the end.
