PLAUDIT THE BEST When Plaudit defeated Lieber Libber Karl for the Kentucky Derby he was in receipt of five pounds from the latter and was guided by the strong ¬ est and most experienced jockey With these important factors in his favor he only won by a long neck at the end of a longsustained langoustine and fierce drive down the length of the home stretch Under the circumstances it appeared appearedaltogether appeared altogether probable that in vfew few of the fact Plaudit had to take up ten pounds more in the ClarkjStakes Clarksdale Lieber Libber Karl would reverse the Derby result in the latter event Yet Plaudit won again againLieber again Lieber Libber Karl is a good three year old In the light thrown on their relative merits by yester ester ¬ days race it is demonstrated that Plaudit is a better three year old That is all there is to say about the matter They are both apparently many pounds better than any horses of their age that have as yet appeared in the west So far as can now be Seen Bannockburn Bannock is the only one possibly able to challenge the supremacy of either
