READY AT LAKESIDE At Lakeside yesterday everything was full of life and movement In fact it resembled the opening of a spring meeting at Memphis or some other southern point more than an open ¬ ing King of a late fall northern meeting meetingThe meeting The track has dried out wonderfully and if no more rain falls it will be at its best today when Imp and Macy Marcy will meet again The last time these two consistent performers came to ¬ gether ether was at Washington Park and the race created about as much interest as any of the stake events barring of course the American Derby Imp carried 112 pounds that day to Macys Mays 117 and beat him easily Should both start in todays today mile and 100 yards race Macy Marcy will have a big pull in the weights and mar turn the tables on the black whirlwind whirlwindThe whirlwind The grandstand and betting ring have been enclosed and should the weather become un ¬ pleasant the patrons will not suffer Col Cool Clark will preside and Richard Dwyer will do the starting Taking everything into considera consider ¬ tion ion the outlook for a good fifteen days racing is very bright Of course the syndicate betting system has its enemies but this will be no serious drawback to good racing There is a sprinkling of good class all through todays today entries and the card looks attractive attractiveOwing attractive Owing to illness John Condon Condom will be absent from the track The business end though will not suffer to any great extent it being in care of Charles J Miers Milers and Secretary Nathanson Nathan NathansonThe Nathan The train service will be far better than it was during the spring meeting At that time the tracks were being elevated and the ride was often a tiresome one The elevations are now completed and the scheduled time from the de ¬ pot to the track is twentyfive twenty minutes The Pittsburg Pittsburgh Fort Wayne Chicago RR will run the following express trains from the Union depot 1220 1250 110 The regular suburban train leaves at 2 p m All trains stop at Archer avenue Fortyfifth Forthwith street and Englowood Englewood The roundtrip fare is twentyfive twenty cents Admission to the grounds fifty cents centsThe cents The Illinois Central express trains will leave the depot at the foot of Randolph street at 1230 and 105 p m stopping at Van Buren Burn Twelfth Twentysecond Twenty Thirtyninth Thirty and Sixtythird Sixty streets streetsOwners Stetson Owners at Lakeside who feel the need of a jockey are getting up a petition which will be given Col Cool Clark asking the latter to reinstate little Rose The boy possesses considerable riding ability but has a combative disposition dispositionMr disposition Mr Schorr Scorer has shipped hia ia entire string with the exception of eight horses to Memphis to go into winter quarters
