Mezzo moved up fast just before turning for home and ran away from the rest of the field in the last quarter. Bard of Avon finished going fast, outstaying Hot in the closing strides for third place. The latter began slowly, but made up ground fast in the final quarter. Anna Beall tired when a furlong out. Fullback and Ed Adack showed early speed. Scratched — 40179 Marcos, 106. The Crisis showed a great turn of speed, and tiptoeing her field all the way, won as her rider pleased. Bardolph ran to his best form and met with no mishaps and finished going fast. Birch Broom was pocketed badly in the first quarter, but moved up fast in the stretch when she got clear sailing and finished resolutely. Sidney C. Love ran a dull race and was never a serious contender. Orfeo, cut of position at the start, was never a contender thereafter. J. Sidney Walker ran well for a half mile. The Conqueror II. moved up fast when turning for home and easily passed Hargis when a furlong out, winning as his rider pleased and going away. Hargis was always a contender, but tired fast when challenged by the winner. Gold Bell came with a rush at the end , after making up much ground in the final quarter. Schwalbe was done for just after turning for home. Vincennes finished resolutely and ran to his best form. John McGurk fell away badly beaten in the final eighth. Bragg began slowly and moved up gradually while going down the backstretch and got to Jack Rattlin and Epicure when a furlong out. From here to the wire he showed game-ness under a hard drive and was gradually going away at the end. Epicure stood a long stretch drive gamely and outstayed Jack Rattlin in the last sixteenth struggle. The latter tired perceptibly when the pinch came. Huzzah ran in improved form, finishing going fast. Monsieur Beaucaire ran an excellent race and bears watching from now on. Esie L. tired fast when the pinch came.
