Invincible was off running, raced Prince of Proxy into submission in the first half and drew away in a canter in the stretch run. Alfio was under a drive at the end to stall off a challenge from Captain Arnold. The latter was practically left at the post, but closed a big gap and, finishing strong, might have won with an even break. Prince of Proxy showed speed, but tired as if short. Zyra began slowly and was crowded back at the turn into the backstretch, went around her field on the backstretch, came wide at the turn for home and, finishing with a rush, got up in the last few strides. Balm of Gilead outgamed Amorous when it came to the final drive. Amorous met with no mishaps and ran his race. St. Wood was crowded back at the start and was in a pocket 5n the last sixteenth. Worthington tired when the final drive came. Russellton was on the outside for the entire trip and tired as if short. Scratched 43024Bob Hilliard, 119. Zyra, show, 2 to 5. Homestead was well ridden. Livingston rated him in behind the leaders until well into the homestretch, then came through with a rush when he found an opening. The horse was tiring at the end and swerved over toward the inside rail in the last sixteenth. Noweta ran well, but came wide at the turn into the homestretch and was driving to the limit at the end to stall off Ivernia. The latter was crowded back at the first turn and had to go around on the outside to get up.. Bard of Avon and Fairbury tired in the last quarter. Louise Elston showed speed for six furlongs and was eased up when beaten. Past was outrun all the way. She was crowded back at the first turn. Gregor K. showed the most early speed and set a fast pace, but was doing his best at the end to stall off By Ways. The latter was crowded to the inside fence at the first turn and Wilson had to pull up. She then came around the leaders at the turn into the homestretch and finished fast. Dan McKenna was shut off at the furlong post and Munro pulled over to the inside. Ethel Wheat tired after going six furlongs. Scratched 42710Ascension, 10S. No show betting. Soldier of Fortune was crowded back at the first turn and had to go around his field. Crawford waited with him until rounding the far turn before making his move, went to the front when ready and had everything his own way in the last furlong. Louis Kraft ran in much improved form, came fast in the stretch and outgamed Banwell in the stretch drive. The latter saved ground at the turn into the homestretch, but tired when the final struggle came. Scotch Thistle appeared big when going to the post. He ran an impressive race and is worth remembering. Jim Ferrin showed early speed, but likes a shorter trip best. Overweights Louis Kraft, 1 pounds; Caybon, 2. Louis Kraft, show, 1 to 2. Bondage was outrun in the first half, but Mclntyre rode a patient race and did not hurry him any until well around the far turn, then challenged Ancke in the stretch run and outgamed her in a long, hard drive. Ancke was much used in chasing Dutiful and had little left when Bondage challenged, but hung on gamely. Dutiful tired after going a good six furlongs. The others were outclassed. No show betting on first three.
