Birkenruth rode a careful, waiting race on Little Margaret, making his move at the right time when well straightened away for home and, catching the leaders tiring badly, won with plenty in reserve. Sir Christopher showed his usual speed and displayed more game-ness than usual, was well handled and had no mishaps. Madam Bishop had the speed to act as pacemaker, but tired very badly from the last furlong post home. Flourish got away poorly, but his rider never made a move. Overweights Flourish, 4 pounds. Annie Robinson ran well, but swerved all over the stretch in the last furlong interfering with Colonel Bogey and was disqualified. Quest ran a good race and finished last. Ocean Dream got away well and was taken back, waiting to the stretch before making her move, then had to be ridden hard at the end to stall off Bragg. The latter, badly outrun in the first half mile, closed up very fast and would have won at a sixteenth farther Beautiful and Best ran a fair race. Nitrate was away well and ran a good race but may have been short as he tired in the last furlong. Haviland was almost left, ran a really remarkable race and with an even break would have won. Jim Hale ran his best race Knapp waited too long with Erne, which was going great guns at the end. Anvil showed the most early speed but tired badly at the end. The latter closed up an enormous gap and would have won in another stride. He is a great stretch runner and very game. Cloche dOr showed speed but tired badly at the end of six furlongs.
