SWINDLERS ARE SENTENCED. New Orleans, La., January 17. — J. F. Barrett and N. C. Collins, who were convicted of having used 1 the Fnited States mails with intent to defraud the ? public by inducing certain persons to invest in an 1 alleged Co-operative Turf Association, were called liefore Judge Parlange today for sentence. Both 1 defendants made earnest pleas for clemency. They were sentenced to one year in the Parish Prison 1 and fiucd M each and arc to remain in jail until the fine is paid.
