KILLS SCHEME TO TELEPHONE BETS. Jefferson City, Mo.. March 11.— The bouse has panted the senate bill to eariecl 1 weakness m the present law prohibiting betting on horse races. The law passed two years ago did not provide against recording Lot s in other stales and using the telephone and telegraph, but the bill passed yesterday afternoon provides that it is unlawful to lis,, a telephone, telegraph or any other instrument to be used iu connection with a bet on a horse race. The bill is ready for the signature of Governor Folk, who recommended it.
