SHEEPSHEAD BAY STAKE RACING. The usual profusion of interesting fixed events marks the Sheepshcad Hay programme for the racing week beginning tomorrow. The Mermaid Stakes, a dash of a mile and an eighth for three-year-old lillies, with i?3,000 added, will be run .Monday, the names of the probable starters appearing in tills issue. The Long Island Handicap for three-year-olds and over at a mile and an eighth, 83,000 added, will be decided Tuesday. For tlds Blandy, Bad News, Hyperion IL, Ben Ban, Grapple, First Premium, Montgomery, Tony Faust, Jacquiu, Zambesi, Coy Maid, Frank Gill. Cotton town, Uunnliig Water, Cairngorm, Jack At-kiu. Dr. Gardner, Wexford, Sir Lynnewood and Bedouin appear to be the eligibles from which the field will come It is the last of the three June Handicaps, of which Tony Faust won the first, and Sir Lynnewood the second. The Pansy Stakes for two-year-olds at six furlongs over the grass course is the only stake set for Wednesday. It is a selling race, and Firestone, Creation, ltoyal Vane, Magazine, George Considlue, Boas, Raconteur, Frizette, Transvaal. Spooner, Hal, E. M. Fry, Wood-lane, Alauda, Hollister and Jane Swift are among the eligibles. As befits the -ay a great programme is provided for Thursday, July 4. The Independence Steeplechase over the full course, the Spring Stakes for two-year-olds at three-quarters, and the Advance Stakes, one mile and three-eighths for three-year-olds and over, at weight for age, promise admirable entertainment for the thousands who will gather at the great seaside track. The Independence lias altout all of the good jumpers of the time nominated und will be contested In all probability by a crack field. In the entry list of the Spring Stakes the names of Chapultepec, ltoyal Vane, Live Wire, Master Robert, James B. Brady, Transvaal, Lady Wipifred, King James, Wave Crest, Ziephen, Ilar-court, Woodlaue, Kings Plate, Fancy, Walter Miller. Falcada and Beaucoup stand out prominently. The Advance is of the guaranteed value of 5,000 and is usually productive of a grand race. Last years winner. Flip Flap, is an eligible, as also are Accountant, Tony Faust, Nealon, Tokalon, Peter Pan, Montgomery, Tangle, Salvidere, Arcite, Cot-toiitown, Running Water, Far West, Dr. Gardner, Electioneer, Gallavant, Charles Edward and other good ones. One stake race Is down for Friday afternoon, the Spindrift, a handicap for three-year-olds at a mile and an eighth, with ,000 added. Superman, Philander, Fountainblue, Kentucky Beau, Faust, Hickroy, Montgomery, Tony Faust, Arcite, Frank Gill, McCarter, C. Core, Charles Edward, Lord Lovar, Peuarris, Killaloe and Electioneer are in tins. The Vernal Stakes for two-year-old lillies at five furlongs, and the Commonwealth Handicap at a mile and a quarter for three-year-olds and over, will be run Saturday Half Sovereign, Ella ONeill, Whip Top, Aimee C. Ruth Taylor, Lady Hildieth. Beckon. Lady Winifred, Masquerade, Meggs Hill, Fashion, Laura Clay, Woodlane, Rosc-bloom, Mombassa, Fancy and Sungleatn are probably the pick of the Vernal candidates. The Commonwealth is practically a renewal of the Suburban, and having 0,000 added, is a valuable and important event.
