NORFOLKS NORMAL 00 PURSES. Secretary Sheridan Clark of the Jamestown Jockey Club, which proposes to open a meetiug at Norfolk, Va., August 22, to run indefinitely, has caused widespread publication of the following: "At the coining meeting there w!U be no purses under 00 and there will be six races daily." If the Jamestown Jockey Club conducts a meeting of thirty days or more with au average daily t distribution of ,400 in purses, Norfolk, Va. can be put down as a better town than most people acquainted with racing, think it Is and the Jamestown exposition will have proved au exception to the rule that exposition cities do not give race meetings uncomniou financial support. Those who remember the Charleston meeting In exposition year, for instance, do not think much of the Norfolk proposition. Two-hundred dollar purses would sound more like Norfolks size.
