MASTERSONS ESTIMATE OF LEE. "Bat" Maslerson, a turf critic in recent months, thus comments on the riding record holders efforts at Empire City: "There is certainly something coming to the person who told J. Lee that he could rido. Whoever is responsible for the smokes appearance in the saddle as a jockey will have much to answer for when reckoning time comes around. "Lee may be a good crapshooter, but as a jockey he is about as sublime a failure as lias been seen on the eastern turf in a long time. He won, it is true, on Clyde in the last race Thursday, but that was because Clyde was about a fortnight better than any thills else in the race."
