CONKLING SUCCEEDS KANE. New York, September 4. nerbert Conkling, formerly in the employ of the Fasig-Tipton Company, has been appointed as the successor of the late William Kane as assistant tlerk of the scales at it lie New York tracks. The appointment of Arthur Van Etton was only temporary. This posilion is of much more importance than the general public might suppose, and requires a man of considerable ability and one who Is well-known to owners and trainers.
