The Squire ran in nearest pursuit of the winner to the last stride, where he tired finally after a good effort. Robert Cooiier, well up all the way, finished fast and is improving. Countermand, away badly, closed up steadily and ran like a slayer. Senator Barrett showed good early speed and dropped out in tlte last quarter. Creation was outpaced all the way. P.rookdale Nymph was rushed through on the inside, knocking everything about like ninepins, was enabled to steal a long load and, after pulling over and shutting Dandelion off on tho inside in the stretch, finished boring out and impeding liim all of the last quarter. Dandelion, bumped on the first turn, closed an immense gap, failed in trying to come through on the inside and afterwards was bumped into defeat in the closing struggle; and was much the best. Old Honesty got into third place early in the struggle and stayed there dftor a stiperjor effort. McCarter, nearly left, closed a big gap. Faust, also llatfooted mid away very badly, made up much ground. Monfort showed brief early speed, but was never dangerous and probablv short. Kcnnyetto got away very badly and had no chance. Ranker trailed in the rear until passing the stand the first time and closed an immense gap into a fast coming second. Ostrich closed up under a pull, moved up at. the half and weakened linally. Qnagga helped force the pace from the start, but tired in the closing drive. Flavigny, reserved in a gixjtl forward position, tired at the end of a mile and a half. Lally quit badly.
