. BUCKMAN WINS PIMLICO FEATURE. J; " 1; Takes Green Spring Valley Steeplechase in a i 1 Romp El Dorado a Good Thing. Baltimore, Md., October 20. Rrightskies favored the racing at Pinilico today, but a heavy track badly disarranged the plans of the speculators and caused one or two well-planned coups to go wrong. The going in the stretch next the rail was deep . and here several good things met their fate, the winners turning up in horses that took the outside where the track had dried out. F.dgely went down in this way in the second race. A big lot of money was bet on the Jonah White gelding by those who had followed this horse on the northern circuit, hut, turning into the stretch, he was held in the deep going next the rail and Coltness went on and beat him. The biggest plunge of the day was made in the , fifth race on El Dorado, Smithson and his followers Hooding the ring with money. El DOrado, after racing Herman Johnson into submission, turned into the stretch looking a sure winner. Beekman, how-ever, stuck to the rail, and Royal Onyx, coming , fast in the dry going, got up and beat the good thing. In the same way JXancy lost the sixth, race to Xeoskaleota. Buckman made his backers feel good for their losing on the opening day by taking the Green Spring Valley Steeplechase in a romp. In this race the heavily played Bersi, from the stable of Mr. McMurtrie, ran out, and Essex -II, which was also well played, cut his knee badly , and fell out of it. Cave Ad sum, which has been touted as a good thing at this meeting, must be passed up. He was beaten off in the third race by Lally and Clements, the only other starters. The Chelsea Stable sprung a good tiling iu the last race in Beggarmau, which beat out handily a big field of maiden two-year-olds. Beggarman was heavily played, and the stable connections profited handsomely. The, track should be iu fair .shape tomorrow.
