SANDY PINES FOR FREEDOM. It is said that jockey S.andy will endeavor to secure his release from II. E. Rowell as he is dissatisfied with his position ot second jockey for the Williams-Rowell stable. Walter Miller will be given the preference whenever that stable starts a horse iu a race and the unwritten rule prevailing at Oakland that a jockey shall not ride in a race against his own stable will necessarily keep Sandy from accepting mounts in many races during the meeting.
