I I j 1 . 1 i 1 ; 1 ! ; 1 ENGLANDS BEST TWO YEAR - OLDS. " Pick of the Year Officially Handicapped for the Newmarket Free Handicap. One of the peculiar races run at the Newmarket Houghton meeting is the Free Handicap for two-year-olds. The Houghton meeting is the last of each year at Newmarket and comes at a time when two-year-old form has been thoroughly exposed. The official handicapper at the jockey club assigns weights to every two-year-old in England that has done anything deemed good enough to entitle it to consideration, and the owner can start his youngster or not, as lie chooses, with no obligations incurred if no starter is sent to the post. Considerable importance attaches to this event, not so much to its running as to its being an ollicial estimate of the relative standing of the best two-year-olds of the year expressed in pounds. This year the two-year-olds given a place in the select list and the weights assigned were as follows: Prospector 120 Elixir 104 Vamose 125 Orpbali 103 Spinning Solly 124 Norman III 103 Lesbia 123 Side View 103 White Eagle 122 Dusky Slave 103 Quelpart 122 Heredity 102 Little Flutter 119 Mocassin 102 Sir Archibald 119 St. Orodoux 102 Tiptoe II 11" Fallen Angel 101 Cocksure II 117 Filly by St. Simon Olympus .110 Pace Eggcr .... 101 Malwood 115 Konspiel II 100 Kracelet 115 Elmstead 100 Your Majesty 114 Littledale 100 Ednam 114 Nobleman 100 Mountain Apple 113 Aristocracy 99 Cheshire Cat 113 Dollars 99 Dark Ronald 112 Corinthian 99 The Nut 112 Manviette 99 Ardentrive 112 Aubergine 99 Mercutio 112 Little Goose 98 Pom 112 Damiette 9S St. Cyril 112 St. Magnus 9S Dibs Ill Isis 9S Royal Realm Ill St. Elf 9S Morena .
