Al Mitller outclassed the others, broke fast and, showing a high order of speed, won all the way une..-t ended. Financier put up a good performance, was always in nearest pursuit and finished gamely. Divorcee ran well, had no mishaps and was best of the others. Brown Thistle was taken wide most of the way and ran fairly well. Major Mack will show improvement. Pete Vinegar, skillfully ridden, was restrained for the first round of the course and moved up gamely when cslled on, but had to be hard ridden near the end to outstay Peter Becker. The latter showed good form, fenced well and appeared a certain winner until Hearing the last two hedges, where he tired slightly as if short. Magic was in forward contention for the first half dozen jumps, but tired near the end and would have been much closer up but for blundering at the last hedge. Uncle James appeared to sulk all the way. Full of Fun ran a bad race and can do much better. Ralph Reese was in a good position when he fell at the third jump. Melange gained steadily throughout, wore C. II. Shilling down in the final furlong and won drawing clear after a slight shaking up. C. II. Shilling, away fast, showed superior early speed and tired after going a half, but held on resolutely. My Love was a sharp factor in the earlystages and would have been much closer up but for being cut off in the stretch by C. II. Shilling. Fresh had no mishaps and ran a poor race. Ace High broke fast and set a steady pace to the stretch turn, where he was challenged by Refined, which soon appeared a certain winner, but Ace High came again under hard urging and got up in the final stride. Refined ran a good race, but was given a weak ride, which cost her the race. Lens was" given a hard ride through the last quarter and was not good enough. .Miss Strome saved ground when coming into the stretch, was gaining at the end and will improve. Alpenniarchen tired badly after going a ball. Marsh Redon quit in the last quarter. The winner was entered for ; no bid. Overweights Miss Strome, 11 pounds. Fay ran into a long lead soon after the start and, leading all the way by a wide margin, won with plenty in reserve. McAllister ran forwardly throughout and held on well in the final drive. Dapple Gold began slowly and was forced to go wide most of the way, but finished gamely and would have been second in a few more strides. Steel Trap closed a good gap in the last quarter. Relleview wore Beau Brumrael down in the first half, but tired in the drive through the stretch. Charlatan had to go wide most of the way and only ran fairly well. Chief Hayes loomed up dangerously on the stretch turn, but quit when hard pressed. Anna Day and Beau Immunol were both forward contenders in the early stages, but tired as if short.
