RED LEAF IN GREAT FORM. TAKES THE SACRAMENTO HANDICAP EASILY FROM OCEAN SHORE. Prince Brutus Wins His Fourth Straight St. Avon In Front Durnell Sale This Week. Oakland, Cal., December 21. Jockey Eddie Dugan made his reappearance today on Red Leaf in, the stake feature, the Sacramento Handicap at one mile and a sixteenth and scored a brilliant win. The winner was heavily supported at liberal odds and her victory was a tremendously popular one. Th,e speedy three-year-olds, Prejuicio and Ocean Shore, , engaged in a gruelling contest for supremacy from the outset and both cracked under the terrific pressure, allowing Red Leaf to get up and draw out as if they were anchored in the final sixteenth of the race. The card was high-class considering the muddy track conditions. Each race contained more than an average quota of superior performers and excellent sport resulted. The racing began well with the successive wins of Cloudlight and Prince Brutus, boin odds-on favorites. After them a sequence of second choices in St.-Avon, Red Leaf. Lucian and Banposal scored. This quartette .carried most of the publics wagers and the layers were mulcted in large sums. The attendance npproximated 10,000 and thirty-seven layers drew in for positions in the big ring. C. E. Durnell has announced that an auction sale of his horses will take place In the California Jockey Clubs paddock next Friday. Dr. Sayior, the official veterinary who was" ordered to examine Harmakis today, reported that Trotters inconsistent performer was lame and unfit to race. Jockey Scovllle was set down for ten days by starter Dwyer for unruly behavior at the post on Triumphant. W. B. Jennings left for Arcadia yesterday. He intends to look the ground over with a view of shipping his horses to the southern California track to race, as he has no mud runners in his string;
