Hal raced Barney Oldfleld into early subjection and then came away with a rush, easily holding his opponents safe through the final sixteenth. Senator Beckham closed a gap and, in a long stretch drive, finished gamely, but was not good enough. Barney Oldficld was speedy, but fell away fast in the last eighth. The Sultan, always within striking distance of the leaders, came through with a rush midway of the stretch and, in a hard drive, got up to win in the last stride.. Bellmence, away well, was taken back and came through on the inside in the final sixteenth and, in a fast finish, should have won, but. failed to quite get up. Lady Chiswell came from far back in the final quarter and finished fast under punishment. Joyner and John C. Graus showed speed, but tired when an eighth out. Prince of Orange ran well to the stretch. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Pacific Electric followed the winner closely until in the final sixteenth, then tired under the whip. An-doehe ran well to the stretch, but finally tired into a distant third. Nadzu got off badly and closed a big gap. The same applies to Evran. Alleviator, Ella True and Buena ran well to the stretch and tired badly. Scratched China Lily, 109. Sir Edward set a hot pace and- showed much speed throughout, but tired suddenly in the final sixteenth. Summer Cloud ran a good race, but tired badly in the final drive. Silver Sue closed a gap and finished fast after trailing to the stretch. Timothy Wen and Dulcinea tired. Confessor ran poorly and will do better presently. Scratched 72390 Rey del Mundo, 107. Ezra is improving, ran a good race and finished close up. Needful finished gamely. Mary Candlemas set the pace fast for a mile, but failed to stay the route. El Primero was going well at the end. The latter made up much ground in the final quarter and finished fast under the whip. Bryan ran well, but tired in the last hundred yards under the whip. Stray showed great speed and led to the stretch by a wide margin, but tired suddenly in the final drive. Nonie Lucille and Adoration showed speed, but failed to stay. Overweights J. R. Laughrey, 3 pounds.
