FIRST THREE BIO EASTERN HANDICAPS. Horses of Good Class Nominated to the First Benning Spring, Carter and Excelsior. The first handicap of the eastern racing campaign will be run at Washington. March 2:5. when the First Benning Spring Handicap is decided. The first important handicap of the New York season, the Carter, will be decided at Aqueduct, April 1.".. Tin-two, in conjunction with the Excelsior Handicap, which will «e run on the opening day of the Jamaica spring meeting. April 29. will give a good exposition of the form of many of the handicap In rses expected to play prominent parts in the big events of the year. Intil weights are adjusted any discussion of the chances of the horses would b-futile, but the entries will suffice to show the general class of the horses engaged and that good riu ing is assured in each event is perceptible. It is doubtful if the First Spring ever promised so well. The First Spring is a dash of thre -quarters of a mile over the Columbia Course. its sequel, the Second Spring is at seven furlongs. Such horses as Salvid re. King James »and Rojal Lady may have been entered compliincntarlly. 1-ut Berkeley. Banyah. Greeno. Smoker. Oxford. Bellwether. Uraziallo, Oraculum. The Clown, Killie-crankie. Colloquy. Parkview. Samuel H. Harris. Woodlane, The Shaughraun. Comedienne, El Dorado, and Lally are List enough to take their share of the money on any track.
