WHAT GRAPPLE HAS DONE IN RACING Although Grapple played a sorry part in the Yonk ers Handicap last Saturday he is a good race horse that has more than paid ills way since his introduc ¬ tion to the activities of the track Grapple began racing at Kansas City in 1004 as the property of Edward Corrigan and there won a race and was sec ¬ ond in another out of four starts That was all he did as a twoyearold As a threeyearold in 1005 he won twice for Mr Corrigan and was taken east by D II Barnes After winning once he was sold to John A Drake and won a race for the latter before going into winter quarters He did better for Drake iii 1000 when he began by running un ¬ placed in his first start and then in succession won the Newtown Stakes at Jamaica and the rich Met ¬ ropolitan Handicap at Belmont Park He then ran second to Security in the New Rochelle Handicap and third to Inquisitor and Tokalon in the Cosmo ¬ politan Then he passed into the possession of Frank J Farrell to whom he has been a good ser ¬ vant He won one race for him in 1000 and last vear won ten more for him including the Harlem and Mvrtle Stakes at Belmont Park Grass Selling and Thistle Stakes at Sheepsliead Bay Amsterdam Stakes at Saratoga and Woodmcro Stakes at Aque ¬ duct He has won six out of eleven starts this year for the second time taking the Grass Selling Stakes at Sheepsliead Bay and the Harlem Stakes at Bel mont Park His record to date is as follows followsGrapple Grapple b K 1902 by Woolsthorpe Embrace ge Sts 1st 1M d Unn 2 4 10 4 14 17 t it
