DANDELION IN ACTIVE TRAINING. San Francisco, Cal.. October 14. Dandelion probably will be S. C. nildreths Opening Handicap candidate. He ran a mile today in l:45t. which is the fastest work here to. date. He covered the first half in 00 seconds and was pulled up in the last eighth. Uncle Avorked three-eighths today in 40 seconds. It was the first time that anything had been asked of him. Montgomery is moving along well and will be ready for early racing. Because of the present policy of the California Jockey Club management In refusing stalls to cheap 1 horses, there will be fewer horses ready for the opening day than ordinarily. The jockey club otiicials prefer quality to quantity and, Avliile plenty of stalls are still available for good horses, owners of cheap strings are being constantly turned down. Light rain fell today and will settle the new top dressing of the track. C. R. Ellison passed through Chicago today en route from New York and telegraphed to have stalls bedded down for his hosses on their arrival Sundav. Jasper Madison has arrived from Arallejo with Edith R.. Satkass. Allness, Bishop W.. Vlctorie Green and Amethyst, which he Is training for the Beckwortk Stable.
