NOTES OF THE TURF. Edmund Blancs colt. Aglia. by Flying Fox Anile, recently beat the English champion sprinter. Ignorance, at Maisons-Lallitte. near Paris. Johnny Reiff and Winnie OConnor are second and third respectively on the list of winning jockeys in Germany. At tho close of the German racing season OConnor will go to Paris to ride for Count Le Marois. Former jockey Fuller, it is reported, has so misbehaved himself of late that his friends are said to have refused to aid him any longer and it is said that the Jockey Club pension of 0 a month has been cut off because of his had habits. norsos are gathering fast at Latonia. a big detachment having arrived from the Canadian tracks.. Among them is Etliou. In his present . good form a meeting between him and Berwick would be an occurrence of decided interest and doubtful issue. "Snapper" Garrison is enthusiastic about Canadian racing and says that the reformers who are opposed to racing in New Vork should visit Canada and see how Earl Grev. the Governor-General, patronizes the turf. "Everybody who is anybody believes in racing in Canada." said Garrison. A large crowd attended the races at Oaklawn Park, Hot Springs. Ark., on the opening day of the Arkansas State Fair. Speculation was brisk on every race, i notations were to be had by asking, and wagers were put through by the "memory" method. No public booking was tolerated. The Pennsylvania Horse Breeding and Racing Association opened a three-day meeting yesterday at Belmont Park, near Philadelphia. The program consisted of five races, three on the fiat and two at jumping. Beside the local horses, the entries included some well-known New 1ork racers. Jockey Frank Turbiville died in the Charity Hospital at New Orleans Tuesday. "Doc" Tuberville. as he was called when a successful jockey, rode well over the San Francisco tracks when a lightweight in 1S93 and afterwards. When Johnny Campbell took Ogden from Montana to New York to run in the Futurity of 1S90 he also took Turbiville along to ride the colt. Winning the Futurity on Ogden was the most conspicuous success of Turbi-villes career.
