Hanonia began slowly and worked her wny up on the extreme outside and was hindered all of the last quarter by Great Jubilee, which carried her over to the outside fence. Great Jubilee outbroke his opponents and was hard ridden for the entire trip, but tired in the last furlong and was beaten out in the final stride. Flat Creek broke flatfooted and dropped out of the running in the first furlong, then closed a big gap and finished with a rush. The winner was entered for S1.000: no bid. Trey of Spades followed the early leader closely and was kept under slight restraint to the stretch turn, where he moved up with a rush and, dashing into an easy lead, drew away in the last quarter. Incognito, a rapid beginner, drew away into a big load in the first furlong, but tired after going a half mile. Croydon was made entirely too much use of and tired badly in the last quarter. Noblesse Oblige, well up throughout, finished gamely under punishment. Canvas showed a fine turn of speed and fenced well but tired in the last half-mile and just managed to last long enough to stall off Bessie Kiser. The latter moved up quickly going to the last jump, where she had Canvas beaten, but lost the race by going to the extreme outside fence when entering the homestretch. Benlala fenced well but lacked speed. Impertinence lost her rider at the tenth jump and Helen Shea hers at the first. The winner pulled up lame. The winner was entered for 00; no -bid.
