Desperado, away fast, set the early pace and, after relinquishing it, followed Be Brief closely and, standing a hard drive through the last furlong, got up in the last few strides. Be Brief ran a good race and was a close and game contender all the way. Mlque OBrien, away in a tangle, closed a big gap, was going fast at the end and would have won in a few more strides. Aspirin followed the earlv leaders closelv and. taking the lead in the last furlong, came away to win as his rider pleased. Home Run had no mishaps and tired after showing the most speed for a half. Miss Crittenden came from a long way back in the last quarter and finished with a rush. Alinena ran well, was prominent throughout and might have been third but for being cut off in the stretch. The Missus ran well and finished close up. Dispute tired near the end. The others were never forward contenders. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. . Snake Mary was well up throughout and outstayed Camille M. hi the closing drive. The latter ran well throughout. Lady Anne showed the most early speed, but tired fast after going a half and might have been a trifle short. Purant ran fairlv well. The winner was entered for 00; no bid. Hanbridge, from a good start, raced Saliv Preston into defeat in the first half and had enough in reserve to outstay Zienap iu the closing drive. The latter, after being taken back and reserved for three-quarters, came fast in the stretch and was gradually wearing the winner down at the end. Sally Preston set the early pace fast and tired after going three-quarters, but held Lady Martha safe in the final struggle. The latter ran poorlv and was never a dangerous contender. Marbles showed much the most speed for a half and appeared a certain winner at tho stretch head, but tired suddenly and but for impeding Merrick would have been beaten for second place. Merrick ran well and finished wearing Marbles down for second place. Heine ran poorly and can do better. Lady Carol had no mishaps.
