LENGTH OF TEXAS TRACKS. None of the tracks over which running racing is conducted in Texas is a full mile and all were originally laid out for speed contests at fairs. At Dallas there are two courses, one a full mile and the other 105 yards short of that distance. The Fort Worth track is live furlongs long and the San Antonio track three-quarters of a mile. Those at Houston, Beaumont ami Waco are half-mile courses. Protected racing seems so popular in the Lone Star State that it is reasonable to conclude that full mile tracks will take the place of the present shorter ones before many years roll by.
