FIRESTONE, knocked back on the hist turn, closed a big gap and came around the eihers in the stretch, but needed a race and tired right at the finish. FAR WEST began slowly, but showed excellent speed and finished very gamely. DUKE OF ORMONDE finished close up. WISE MASON tired and ran a bad race. FONT was saved in the early running and came with a great rush through the stretch, but was doing his best at the end to withstand the game challenge of BANBURY. The latter, shut off and crowded hack shortly after the start, closed a big gap and would have won in another sixteenth. THE PEER was in close quarters through the early running and finished fast under a weak ride. KEEP MOVING set the pace the stretch and quit badly. QUEEN MARGUERITE ran in closest early pursuit and appeared the winner at the head of the stretch, but quit as though short. The winner was entered for ,500; no hid.
