ENGLISH SWINDLEES SEVERELY DEALT WITH In England you may not cheat even the handbook man without paying the penalty if caught At the Leicester Assizes recently two men were sentenced to six months imprisonment for defrauding start ¬ ing price men as handbook makers are known there They had been backing horses by telegram after learning the results the hour of filing the telegrams having been altered At Leicester As ¬ sizes a patternmaker and a telegraph clerk were sent to jail for twelve months for defrauding a bookmaker in Flushing Holland of 20 in a similar manner
