ERNEST LA MONTAGNE DIES Xew York December 20 Ernest La Montagne who for many years was closely identified with the turf died at his Long Island home a few days ago Mr La Montagne from early boyhood took a lively interest in sports and when still at college was an amateur sprinter of ability His first entry on the turf was as the partner of Russell Tucker in the Chelsea Stable a thoroughbred establishment that sent many a good horse to the races Later he was associated with his cousin Harry La Montagne under the same stable name though during the last season Harry La Montague raced horses under his own name Mr La Montagne was a valued member of the Xational Steeplechase and Hunt Association and has at all times taken a lively interest in all matters pertaining to racing He had been ailing for more than a year and his death was in no sense a surprise to his friends
