MARLBORO LAYERS GET A DRUBBING Formful Racing Marks Closing Days of Maryland Halfmile Track Meeting Washington 1 C April 11 Tlie layers of odds at Marlboro again received a drubbing today as the Inirses continued to run to form The winners em ¬ braced four favorites and two other horses that were well backed backedThe The chief racing feature was the Baltimore Handi ¬ cap Steeplechase over tlie short course and Tim Donohue the former wellknown steeplechase rider furnished the winner In Jesuit which led from start to finish but at the end was forced to do his best to stand off the closing rush of Kyrat The latter was over restrained in the first part of the raco and made his bid too late He made up almost twenty lengths in the last three furlongs furlongsTlie Tlie mile and a sixteenth race was won by the wellhacked favorite Otilo which ran in front all the way but his win was a lucky one for Wood Dove was by far the best aud was poorly handled throughout the race During tlie first part of the race she was in a ockot then on the first turn she was shut off and all but fell Yet at the head of tho stretch she was at OtiloK head Just when she looked like the winner she faltered as a result of her early efforts effortsAlthough Although the meeting at Electric Park Baltimore is a long way olf as It will not l e held until the latter part of May owners are already making preparations to ship there after this meeting N B Davis J M Milburn J Kelly and several others will ship to that track Monday It looks as if the greater part of tlie horses racing here will be sent there and that few will be shipped to Canada CanadaThe The present meeting which lias been the most successful ever conducted at Marlboro will come to an end with the running of tomorrows races
