LEXINGTONS SUCCESSFUL MEETING The weather was all that marred the start of the Kentucky racing season HSid Lexington had a nice bright sunshiny day all records for the Ken ¬ tucky Association track would have been broken As it was they had a big crowd much larger than that of the same day In the preceding year and thev bet more money The game is bound to he good iu Kentucky this year All indications point that way Baclng is on a tinner foundation in the Blue Grass State now than ever before The people of the blue grass region are horse crazy They talk aliout them morning noon and night and dont even stop on Sunday In addition the horse owners are away up in the air They spurn 5000 offers for selling platers like a prohibitionist spurns an invitation to take a drink Indeed they look at one if he makes an offer of this kind with great contempt aud tho proffcrer really believes that they think he ylumld be In a place where they care for imbeciles Every body who has got a thoroughbred is hanging on to him for dear life and already several persons have bought colts or lillies which have not lioeu foaled It wont be long until the blue grass pastures which were torn up by the plow a few years ago are again waving their blue products In the wind for many have announced their intention of returning to v breeding industry The game at the Lexington track has picked up since the first day and is improving right along Why if it keeps up for the balance of the meeting like it has for the first part the directors may seriously consider cutting down that big hill on the upper turn There is one thing cer ¬ tain the Kentucky Association will have the Ka cing Commissioners after it to raise its purses after this meeting All of which is joyous news to the horsemen Cincinnati Enquirer
