DUFFERIN PARK MEETING CLOSES Toronto Ont August 11 Fully five thousand persons witnessed the running of the closing days card of nine races at Dufferin Park this afternoon under most favorable conditions Speculation was heavy and the fifteen layers were unable to cope with the wants of those speculatlvely Inclined Five favorites were successful while Noon Henotic and Protagoras were winners at long odds The riding of the apprentice jockey V Adams was u feature the youngster piloting four winners winnersThe The placed horses in the eighth and feature raca finishd almost in perfect alignment and only the judges could determine the result Camel was given the decision over Song of Rocks and Brush but tin latter closed such a tremendous gap in the last quarter that he appeared to have been best A protest was lodged against the winner by jockey C Knight who claimed that Skirvin on Camel held him during the stretcll drive The claim was dis ¬ missed missedIn In rounding the last bend in the second race Miss Menard while running in second position stumbled and fell Running Account in close at ¬ tendance fell over the unfortunate lilly and Jockey Dreyer who had the latter mount was removed from the track In a senseless condition He recovered quickly but was unable to ride thereafter He es ¬ caped with minor bruises and a severe shaking up Jockey Shannon had his shoulder dislocated Jockey Stirling was also severely shaken up when he was unseated from Tom Hancock in the third thirdA A car load of horses will leave for Mineral Springs on Wednesday and jockey J Mclntyre will depart for the same place The stable of K Cottreil comprising eight head will leave for Wheeling W Va tomorrow
