KENTUCKY STABLES BEGIN TO FILL FILLLouisville Louisville Ky August 28 Three carloads of horses arrived at the local tracks yesterday from the Windsor course in Canada for the local fall racing season of twentyone days at Douglas Park and fliurchlll Downs beginning at the former track oir Tuesday September 23 and shifting to Churchill Downs on Vetiiiesday October S the date set for the running of the 15000 fourmile Kentucky Endur ¬ ance Stakes The strings that came today were thoM of 1 J Pons in charge of trainer W K Sallee William Gcrsts In charge of George Ham K McMillans Otto Stifels in charge of C K Kowe and C Bills two horses In the shipment also came a horse owned bv William Hurley atid the tilly Tillies Nightmare owned by Doerhoefcr West WestThe The string of ten horses owned by Gallaher llros including Hags Sun Queen and other good winners came with the shipment from Windsor as far as Cin ¬ cinnati and there the car was switched off for Lex ¬ ington ingtonThi Thi string of ten that trainer Sallee brought here for Mr Pons is headed by John Furlong the Holed sixyearold gelding which is among the Pens nominations for the 5000 Louisville Cup two miles which is to lx the feature race of the Douglas Park meeting and is set to be run on the losing day Saturday October I The sou of Wads worth is looking well and trainer Sallee seems to think that he can get him ready to face the barrier in the Douglas Parks rich stake stakeThe The nine other horses that Mr Pons shipped here arc Jack Uemnau Counterpart Capitan llravo Kdna Iiska Miss Waters Grosveiior Kock Uar Annie Sellers and Jack Kellogg Three jockeys came with the stable namely William lirannon G Spellmau and Frank Kandolpb the latter an apprentice rider of piomisc who made his debut in Canada this summer summerSallee Sallee is expecting seven more horses to come here from the Pons farm in Tennessee within the next few days These embrace the twoyearolds Snow llake Dicks Pet and two others of that age also the older horses Armor Pikes Peak and the un ¬ beaten Judge Wright None of the shipment from the Pons farm has been in training this summer and sis a result none of them will race before the Latonia meeting Kil Trotter has three of the Pons string t Ottsiwii and they will be sent here lo join trainer Sullies bund as soon as that Canadian meeting is r Tlnie performers are Foul Pliant and Orandess Olaska Colle Evelyn Young and two yearlings which vere purchased at the Edenwold Stud sale last week One of these is a sister to Iaul Davis while the other is a sister Iu tliiit good racer Ben Hodder Trainer Ham does not intend fit attempt to race Evelyn Young again and she will be sent to the Gerst breeding farm in Tennessee to be re ¬ tired to the slud As Mr Gerst previously had ten horses at Douglas Park the Nashville turfmans string for racing at the local courses this fall will number fifteen head Trainer Hum Is In doubt about sending any of the string to race at Lexington but if he concludes to do so he will send trily three or four maiden twoyearolds The two yearlings that trainer Ham purchased in Canada for Mr Gerst are Ixtth good lookers aud the sister to Ben Hodder la s Jilly of more than average size and sterling good qualities She looks like a racing prospect of the first water waterOne One of the horses that It McMillan brought Is Wishing King which still holds the record of having paid a bigger price in the parimutuels than any other horse that ever won a raco In this country This daughter of Dick Welles appears to be in good condition now On account of having paid her back ¬ ers so handsomely in her sensational victory at La tonia in 1012 Wishing Ring always has a following in any race In which she starts startsThe The only horse that C K Kowe brought to Douglas Park for Otto Stifel is the fiveyearold Muff which Kowe acquired in Canada from W B Carson by the claiming process Kowe has turned out the three yearolds Speaker Clark and Monsieur Perci and the latter is through with racing but up expects to train Speaker Clark again next season and race him in 1014 wheu he is a fouryearold Speaker Clark and Monsieur Perci are the only two Kowe has left of the string he shipped from Douglas Park to Canada last spring All the others he sold or had claimed from him himThe The two horses that C Bills sent from Windsor 10 Churchill Downs are the threeyearold Chilton King and a twoyearold Chilton King appears to be in good fix and promises to do some effective racing for his Louisville owner on tho Kentucky tracks this fall fallStable Stable H at Douglas Park is being put iu order for tho string of T P Hayes headed by the Ken ¬ tucky Derbv winner Donerail a candidate for such events as the Douglas Park Inaugural Handicap the 5000 Louisville Cup two miles aud the 15000 Kentuckv Endurance Stakes four miles Mr Hayes will ship his string here at the close of the Ottawa meeting His horses will arrive here about Sep ¬ tember 8 Secretary Lymau II Davis of the New Louisville Jockey Club has received applications for ten stalls from J W May whose string is now at the Kentucky Association track Lexington He also received a telegram from J McClernand asking for stall room for four horses which this turfman has shipped from the Mineral Springs track at Por ¬ ter Ind IndSecretarv Secretarv Davis has also received a letter from Bcnnle Jacobs so long a helper around the secre ¬ tarys otfice at Churchill Downs he haviug beeu entry clerk there for several seasons in which the latter stated that he has entirely recovered from a recent severe spell of sickness Jacobs has filled several iwsitions on Canadian tracks this season seasonV V Ewing who last season for quite a period trained the big racing stable of K F Carman is now connected with the F J Pons string as an as ¬ sistant to trainer W K Sallee Hwing is a capable trainer and joined the Pons stable in Canada re Trafncr Jack Adklns 1ms wired Manager John Hachmeister at Douglas Park that he will ship six of K J Mackenzies horses here from Windsor earlv next week including Buckhoru Helen Barbee Superl and Melton Street The string will be quartered at Douglas Park upon arrival here hereThe The racing strings of Weber Ward and Lew Mariou whicli will go to Lexington will not be shipped from Douglas Iark to the Kentucky Associa ¬ tion track until the Monday preceding the opening of the meeting there They will wait until the last minute to send their horses there to race on account of the track at Douglas Park being In such splendid condition for training Both strings will likely be returned to Douglas Park before the Lexington meeting is over
