TRACERY WINS THE CHAMPION STAKES. At Newmarket last Tuesday. A. Belmonts grand 1 colt. Tracery, won the Champion Stakes at a mile and a quarter and, in doing so. defeated the re-markabe - race horse, Long Set, in a canter by six c lengths. It was his last stake engagement of this s vear and he has none for next year. The Champion i Stakes is at weight for age with ,000 added and 1 is designed to bring the best horses of each year together on equal tonus. It has been won by many r of the- celebrities of English turf history, but It t is questionable whether by any letter than Tracery, , which "The Special Commissioner" Allison has repeatedly - called "tlie best horse In the World," in n his articles in London Sportsman. Whether Tracery will be raced another year in the hope of placing the Ascot Gold Cup to his credit in 1914, or be re- tired to the stud, is probably a problem engaging " V Mr. Belmonts consideration at present.
